Shelter - The Housing and Homelessness Charity

Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support and legal services. And we campaign to make sure that one day, no one will have to turn to us for help.

We’re here so no one has to fight bad housing or homelessness on their own.

Living rough on the streets of England is a very critical problem that affects the mental health of many of people from all walks of life. Homelessness could affect anybody regardless of whether you are educate or not. Whether you have a job or not. Every possible effort has to be made to curb homelessness by providing the necessary help and support to people that live rough on the streets of U.K.

When you apply for help when homeless, the council decides if you are entitled to emergency housing and then if you should be helped with longer term housing.

Every local council provides help for people who are homeless or likely to be homeless within 28 days. The amount and level of help you get depends on your situation. Councils can provide advice to anyone who needs it, but not everyone is entitled to help with emergency housing or longer term housing.
